Master Plan

Between 2013 and 2015 the Town of Arlington undertook a wide ranging effort, involving numerous public meetings, hearings, etc. to develop an official “Master Plan” for the town.
Master plans are a critically important tool used in cities around the world, and especially in the USA to create an open and public structure that allows private citizens and local government officials to collaborate on what they want their community to be like in the future.
Although we can’t predict the future, communities that do not plan for it and anticipate problems and opportunities can be dragged along into problems that could have been avoided.
The master plan includes lots of data and information in these nine categories: Demographic Profile, Land Use, Traffic and Circulation, Housing and Residential Development, Economic Development, Historic and Cultural Resource Areas, Natural Resources and Open Space, Public Facilities and Services, Implementation Program.
